A Guide To Everything You Need To Know About CBD Tea

What Is CBD Tea?

CBD tea is, well, indeed a tea that incorporates various CBD concentrations to assist with relaxation— among other health benefits of the beverage.

However, with that being said, this tea is not a supplement or medication. The FDA warns consumers of all potential side effects and contaminants that are associated with CBD products.

There is a history of traditional, Eastern practitioners that have used cannabis and hemp products for millennia to help manage the various ailments and health conditions of their patients. In this respect, CBD tea has thousands of years of credibility behind it, even if not officially or widely recognized as such by the modern medical community.

CBD teas come in many various flavors and formulas, with some including additional ingredients to augment the positive health effects of the substance (such as chamomile to help alleviate insomnia and other sleep problems).

What Are the Health Benefits of CBD Tea?

The reported benefits of CBD tea include the management of:

  • Stress

  • Pain

  • Insomnia/sleep disturbances

  • Anxiety and other similar mental health conditions

The FDA has even approved CBD as an ingredient to treat certain seizure types in children. So far, this is technically the only approved medical use for CBD by a medical establishment in the US.

Despite this seeming hiccup in mainstream marketing of CBD tea and other CBD products, many users are vocal in reporting the health benefits they’ve experienced in using them. Designing studies to correlate with these anecdotal findings typically takes many years and resources on the scientific end. Therefore, the lack of official scientific evidence and FDA approval doesn’t mean that CBD doesn’t work.

A study conducted in 2020 of social media posts found that multitudes of CBD enthusiasts and users mentioned its significant help in alleviating and managing symptoms of anxiety— including post-traumatic stress, panic, anxiety-related insomnia, and other mental health issues.1

In yet another 2020 study, findings illustrated that popular uses of CBD among young adults included relaxation, stress relief, and getting better sleep overall. The relief experienced with CBD use also assisted in:

  • Lowering medical costs

  • Reducing reliance on harmful pharmaceutical drugs

  • Improving overall quality of life

Potential Risks of CBD Tea To Be Aware of

CBD tea does not have any psychoactive effects by any means, however, it still does cause sleepiness and slower reflexes. As such, it’s best to avoid driving or operating heavy-duty machinery after drinking CBD tea.

Additionally, there’s a chance that CBD may interact with alcohol or other drugs, which could possibly intensify their effects.
